The Center on High opened in February 1998 with a vision of providing holistic health services, classes, workshops, and community seminars on healthy living for body, mind and spirit. Each practitioner at the Center is an independent business, operating in cooperation with one another as well as sharing a similar worldview. We believe that through the availability of complementary health methods, each individual is encouraged to be a participant in his/her wellness, an empowering choice that assists the process of Wholeness. All sessions are by appointment only. To meet with a particular practitioner, call them directly at their number, listed in this information. Stop by our OPEN HOUSE Saturday, October 2 11-5 Aromatherapy products, handmade jewelry, gift certificates available for purchase! Free demos of Reflexology, Massage and Reiki! Free talks on Holistic Topics at 1 & 3 pm! Refreshments! What is NAC? N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine, known as "NAC" provides powerful immune support and also packs a powerful anti-toxin potential. Its ability to neutralize cell and DNA damaging free radicals can help slow down what many scientists point to as a key factor in the aging process. N-ACETYL L-CYSTEINE (NAC) or NAC is a more stable form of L-Cysteine because it has an acetyl group (CH3CO) attached. NAC has all the properties of L-Cysteine but is more water soluble and said to be more bioavailable than L-Cysteine. NAC may be the most cost effective way to boost Glutathione levels in the body. NAC has been shown to play a protective role against a variety of toxic hazards such as cigarette smoke, auto exhaust, certain herbicides, and overdoses of acetaminophen. It can also play a beneficial role in prostate and respiratory conditions. For example, NAC has well established antimucolytic (anti-mucous) properties and has been shown to increase mucocilary transport in smokers. NAC can be beneficial for asthmatics. As a beneficial glutathione booster, N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine is the supplement of choice. Surprisingly, it is more effective than supplementing with cysteine, methionine, or even glutathione itself! No doubt NAC is the undisputed glutathione precursor. What makes NAC stand out in the crowd of glutathione boosters is the fact that it is a stable amino acid that can retain up to six times the amount of the sulfur and sulfhydryl groups after digestion. Scientists believe that sulfur and sulfur compounds may be central to glutathione and its precursor N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine (NAC). The spiritual journey we are on can be summed up succinctly as accessing the Truth within and developing the spiritual integrity and courage to enact it. This sounds very simple, and indeed, it is. However, it doesn’t seem to be so easy to most of us. Truly, the energy we expend in keeping the veil of ignorance in place is immense and is actually the more difficult task. It takes much more energy to be who we are not than it does to be who we are. As we begin to disperse this veil, which is such a thin wisp it is amazing to realize once it is dissolved that we ever thought it was so much, we feel lighter and lighter. Still, we resist what the veil covers. It is not that we fear to find nothing that keeps us from looking within, but we fear to find Everything and recognize ourSelves as one with that Greatness. We fear our grandeur. That sounds a bit crazy. It is. For all intents and purposes, we are insane and living in a world only the insane could make and want to perpetuate. We believe we begin when we are born into our bodies, live some length of time (less than a tick in the realm of eternity) and die. Many of us say we believe more than this, but there is a difference between claiming belief in a concept and knowing it to be true in the depth of our being. If we truly believed ourselves to be spirit and eternal, we would never feel anger or hurt because we would know that no one can “do” anything to us. Only bodies suffer pain, sickness, and death. Only egos experience anger, underneath of which is always fear – fear of loss, fear of betrayal, fear in some form related to the ego-identified, body-identified, illusory self. The ego and the body are one and the same: the belief in a limited, finite self. Since this is not our real Self, to believe this and act accordingly is clearly insane. Uncovering our inner Truth can then be said to be recovering our sanity. The way seems to be slow and our resistance along the way can be great at times. Yet, we often realize we knew it all along once we finally acknowledge and enact our Truth. It is not hidden in the deep recesses of our minds, nor do we need a counselor or psychic reader to reveal it to us, although either can be helpful guides along the way. We usually recognize they tell us what we knew inside all along but needed to hear, sometimes many times, before we accept it. Our journey of choosing to uncover and recognize our Truth is just the beginning. Developing our spiritual integrity and courage to step into and enact it in our lives is the process we engage in for the rest of our earthly lives. If we really knew the love that awaits us, the peace and joy and bliss of fully living Truth, we would not hesitate even one more second. But we tend to distrust or simply ignore that Inner Voice, the Inner Knowing, which we each have within that gently points the way. What if it’s wrong? What if.... this is what the ego whispers to us, in opposition to the Voice of Truth. It seems our doubts hinder us, but I suspect it is not that we doubt which Voice is the “right” one that we are hearing, but rather that we choose to let the ego stay in charge and keep us where we are. We are afraid of change, and even more than that we are afraid of facing ourselves. Our emotions often frighten us. We play games in relationships, consciously or unconsciously (and I submit they are much more conscious than we like to admit), often staying in relationships (which can be with partners, friends, jobs, or situations) when we know that they do not serve our highest good. We often pretend it is because we don’t want to hurt someone else, but it is really that we don’t want to deal with some perceived consequence. It may be fear of financial security, or emotional security. It may be the fear of what will people think or admitting to the world and oneself that a mistake was made. It may be fear of facing our own emotions in dealing with the emotions of someone else. But the truth is that we are not being noble by “saving” someone else’s “feelings” nor are we helping them in any way at all. It is our own lack of integrity and courage to deal with the emotions and issues in our own lives, and the ego’s desire to avoid consequences at all costs. And the costs are high. When we delay enacting that which we know to be the highest good, we do not just affect our own “self,” but all concerned. And in reality, all are concerned because there is only One of us here. One Mind, many bodies. Your Highest Good is my Highest Good. It cannot be otherwise or separation is real. It is not. So, we need not go through the ego’s gyrations of agonizing and analyzing and trying to see all possible outcomes. All we need do is recognize our own Truth in any situation and then enact it, now, without delay, because that is the path to freedom. To have the knowing and disregard it, or delay it to suit one’s own convenience means we really believe in separation and that what we do and when we do it has no effect on anyone else. If we claim that we do recognize that indeed it does affect everyone and we still delay to enact what we know to be the Highest Good, then we are committing an act of spiritual cowardice and lack of integrity of the deepest kind. The Beatle’s song, Instant Karma, comes to mind. Accessing our spiritual courage and acting with spiritual integrity is the journey. It is how we move from concept into Knowingness. We find that our strength comes from God and we cannot but act with integrity when we feel God moving through us. We find it really is not only simple, but much easier than we suspected. We are not alone. God is patiently awaiting us to choose to express Truth and it is our Creator’s strength and love that sustains us. We are not alone. There is no such thing as ‘alone’. The only way to really know this is to experience it. Then, we move from belief to knowing, from doubt to trust, and from fear to love. The only way to experience it is to step out into what may seem like an abyss, perhaps with our eyes clenched shut and a deep breath, and act fully in accord with what we know is Truth in every situation. Stepping into that seeming chasm, we find there was a bridge awaiting us all the time. It is the bridge from illusion into truth, from lack into abundance, from fear into love. Once stepped upon, there is no going back. And for this, we are grateful. So, simply ask yourself now, regarding any situation in your life that you currently need to address (and you already know what this is – it has come into your mind as you read this), what is the Highest Good? What Truth do you really already know? And when will you choose to step forth and enact it? If not now, when? Love awaits your return. All the universe stands with you. And you will choose Truth now, will you not? September Classes Natural Remedies for Allergies and Asthma Tired of feeling either groggy or jumpy from prescription drugs for allergies and asthma?
